A Place Where Anxiety Melts Away

Thoughtful Design Transforms a Dental Practice in Frechen into a Haven of Comfort

Dental anxiety is real—many patients approach treatment with genuine apprehension. That's precisely why the setting matters. This practice benefits from an accessible ground-floor location with expansive glazing, convenient public transport connections, and convenient parking. Inside, the 255 m² nearly square floor plan rises to an impressive 3.30 metres, creating a sense of openness. The designers at pd raumplan have masterfully transformed the space through strategic planning and material selection, crafting an environment so inviting that patients almost forget what comes next.

The entrance and reception command the space with understated sophistication. Raw concrete walls, polished cement-finish flooring, and suspended white ceilings provide the foundation. These are layered with coordinated surfaces in carefully calibrated greys and beiges. Textured mineral composite panels clad the support column, reception desk, and adjoining wall—serving double duty by enhancing acoustics alongside dedicated fabric-covered foam elements. A striking contrast emerges in the glossy black tiles of a curved wall that guides patients toward the six discreetly positioned treatment rooms tucked at the practice's rear. Each is fully appointed with contemporary equipment, while the staff enjoys generous facilities in the same zone. Subtle LED track lighting illuminates the journey.

Go straight in or settle in to wait? Definitely wait. The waiting area reads like a thoughtfully appointed living room—with varied seating, mirrors, soft carpeting, sheer curtains, and living greenery. Polished black tiles frame a beverage station where coffee and refreshments ease the clock-watching. The real acoustic magic, though, comes from the back wall's six-millimetre wool felt covering. Mounted across it are motivational messages in black lettering, backlit by LED tubes. These slogans—echoed throughout the practice—reinforce its welcoming spirit. Here, dental anxiety simply doesn't belong.
