Clemens Frantzen – Custom Furniture Design

MO-BELLOFT Maybach Sectional Sofa – Fully Customizable in Leather, Velvet & Fabric_15_700px

Few places capture the international identity of the Ruhr region quite like the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein in Essen. Clemens Frantzen grew up steps away from the colliery, exploring its grounds as a child. In 2013, the Essen-born designer established Möbelloft within the historic coking plant at Zollverein—a space where distinctive, bespoke furniture is now born.

Working alongside a team of designers, Frantzen creates distinctive furniture pieces and spatial concepts that tell a story. His signature approach lies in pairing unexpected materials: robust steel or solid wood alongside delicate acrylic and refined concrete create compelling contrasts. The Maybach modular sofa exemplifies this philosophy, available in leather, velvet, or fabric with a distinctly modern vintage aesthetic. Its modular configuration adapts seamlessly to any room arrangement. The same material diversity defines his table designs. Beyond premium woods, reclaimed barn beams and weathered timbers take on new purpose—their distinctive patina and natural imperfections imbue each table with warmth and character. Available in any size, these pieces are supported by striking steel frames ranging from delicate to robust. Reclaimed wood also defines his bathroom furniture line. Salvaged wagon boards and barn beams are transformed into one-of-a-kind washbasins, where every crack, knot, and wood grain pattern becomes a signature detail.
