A practice designed like a lounge

Oral surgery in Velbert embraces a welcoming, relaxed environment

An environment where even patients with dental anxiety feel at ease and truly relaxed: stepping into this newly built oral surgery practice at Velbert Town Hall feels less like entering a medical facility and more like arriving at a hotel lounge. Distinct zones flow naturally, and the reception and waiting areas bear virtually no resemblance to a traditional dental office. The clinical aspect recedes into the background, dissolving patient worries and fears. Instead, visitors are greeted with a sense of welcome, and the thoughtfully designed atmosphere naturally calms anxiety. This spatial concept was developed by Göke Praxiskonzepte in close partnership with Dr. Maximilian Rilling, an oral surgery specialist. Rilling envisioned a practice that would reflect exceptional quality and refined aesthetics—designed to demonstrate the caliber of his work while building a foundation of trust with every patient.

Matte black anchors the entire design scheme, paired with clean lines and intentional clarity. Layered with earthy and soft pastel accents, this palette cultivates a genuinely welcoming atmosphere throughout every area. The existing structure required extensive—and costly—restoration due to its poor condition. Additionally, the building authority raised significant fire safety concerns, leading to comprehensive solutions: the entire floor was outfitted with a cavity-based system that integrates fire detection in the highest monitoring category, ensuring all building zones are covered. High-performance fire-resistant partition walls and basement-to-ground-floor separation further strengthen the safety infrastructure. Acoustic design is equally critical in healthcare spaces; sound-dampening panels integrated into the ceilings create the quiet, serene environment patients need. From initial concept to opening day, this 495 m² practice took nearly two years to realize.
