Warm and Clear
A urology and andrology practice in Hürth where aesthetics and patient comfort go hand in hand
Just outside Cologne, the medical centre has welcomed an impressive new tenant: Alexander and Dina Sahi's urology and andrology practice. Designed and outfitted by the Cologne-based architecture firm atmosphäre, the 250 m² space on the first floor strikes a careful balance—creating inviting, human-centered environments while maintaining the highest hygiene standards.
White serves as the foundation, punctuated by black accents and warm oak-look herringbone flooring that instantly conveys comfort and care. Every material and finish speaks to quality and thoughtful design—evident throughout the reception and waiting areas, as well as in the surgical and treatment zones where rigorous hygiene protocols apply. The surgical and andrology departments anchor the 250 m² space, each claiming 50 m² for their specialized work. Here, functionality alone isn't enough; the visual language matters too. Modern materials and palettes have transformed clinical spaces—operating and treatment rooms no longer need to feel sterile and cold. The colour palette pairs conductive flooring in sand tones with carefully chosen, calming hues for walls and cabinetry. The dedicated waiting areas feature natural fabrics and wooden furniture that foster warmth and reassurance. Throughout the andrology section, the same cohesive colour and material language is maintained, reinforcing the practice's unified vision. The laboratory area operates under different constraints: ventilation and sterility take precedence, so the design here intentionally scales back colour in favour of clinical clarity—a deliberate choice made in consultation with the practice operators.
