Building Diversity – Architecture and Civil Engineering Day
Project tours, presentations, exhibitions, and workshops
Over 100 architects, engineers, and urban planners are opening their doors on Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29, for Architecture and Civil Engineering Day. Together, they're hosting more than 150 events across 61 locations in 32 Hamburg districts. This year brings a new addition: "The City Plans (With You)" – a showcase of planning projects led by Hamburg's public sector. The inaugural lineup features five compelling projects, including Hamburg's Chief Planning Officer Franz-Josef Höing presenting the vision for the new Grasbrook district, and Hans-Peter Boltres, Building Director for Hamburg-Nord, highlighting the Pergolenviertel in Winterhude. While children and young people are welcome at all tours and presentations, PROJEKTOR is specifically designed for school-age visitors. Planning offices have created interactive experiences – inviting young people into their studios and onto building sites to experience architecture and engineering firsthand. Urbaneo, HafenCity's newly opened Young Architecture Centre, is also participating.
The programme booklet (DIN A6 portrait format, available as a PDF at www.akhh.de/tda2024programmheft) is available free at numerous locations across the city—libraries, tourist information centres, supermarkets, bookshops, and cafés—as well as at the Hamburg Chamber of Architects and Hamburg Chamber of Engineers-Construction. You can also access it online at www.tda-hamburg.de. All events are free to attend. While registration is usually not required, some events do require it, and others recommend it to guarantee
your spot at your preferred time.
