Schirn Kunsthalle Celebrates Its Temporary Move
Parade & Opening Event on September 7
Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt is temporarily relocating to Frankfurt-Bockenheim, taking over the striking industrial building of the former Dondorf printing works. To mark the opening of its new interim home, the institution is hosting a major parade through the city center on Sunday, September 7, beginning at 3 p.m., followed by the participatory dance performance "In C – Community," created by the internationally acclaimed dance company Sasha Waltz & Guests in collaboration with the techno marching band MEUTE.
Around 100 dancers – a mix of professionals and amateurs – will perform "In C – Community," an open-ended choreography brimming with energy, improvisation, and community spirit. Frankfurt-based dance groups, spectators, and passersby are invited to join in and become part of the action. The parade culminates at the new interim venue in Frankfurt-Bockenheim, where the audience will experience performances throughout the building, live music, food and drinks, and more.
The relocation comes as the acclaimed institution undertakes a comprehensive energy-efficient renovation of its historic home on Römer.
