A Forum for Architectural Discourse
The "auau" Platform: A Look Ahead to 2024
The architectural firm blrm established a cultural platform for exhibitions and events, now operating under the name "auau". This vibrant space hosts diverse exhibitions, stimulating discussions, and enriching readings—a hub for exchange, resonance, and meaningful encounters. Dedicated to advancing Hamburg's architectural discourse and fostering creative networks, auau brings together exhibitions, readings, lectures, and panel discussions that spark open dialogue on architecture, urbanism, and society. The platform offers architects and artists a stage to present their work and engage with pressing contemporary issues.
Starting in 2024, our events will operate under a new identity: auau. Among them is the "neighbours" exhibition series—an exploration of how neighbourhood transcends mere geographic proximity. Neighbourhood, we believe, is a social construct encompassing complex networks that span from intimate local communities to global connections. It encompasses far more than physical closeness: it includes emotional bonds, meaningful social exchange, and reciprocal care—dimensions that flourish independent of borders. In our era of rapid movement and spatial flux, neighbourhood takes on fresh significance. Built on shared interests and values, it anchors a sense of belonging and community within our increasingly interconnected and pluralistic world. "neighbours" is both a title and an invitation—a call to dissolve the boundaries between "them" and "us," and to learn across difference. We welcome international and local practitioners to present both contrasts and commonalities, creating dialogue at the intersection of diverse perspectives.
2024 Exhibition Programme:

Summer Exhibition: NØEW FUTURE BHT Berlin | TH Nuremberg
Autumn Exhibition: NL Architects
Winter Exhibition: Medine Altiok
Last year proved remarkably generative: our "reduce" programming brought together compelling exhibitions and conversations—from Andreas Gehrke's "City Nord" to studio muoto's "Bestiaire Hamburg," alongside a public reading from Hermann Funke and adocs Verlag's "Architekturkritiken 1962–2003," and Schlaich Bergermann Partner's "Mono Light Weight" installation.
