Munich Creative Business Week
Design Summit, mcbw Hub, and public space activations
"How to design a vibrant community" is this year's motto for Munich Creative Business Week (mcbw), organised by bayern design – Germany's largest design event and platform for new ideas, trends and creativity. Because we can only master the challenges of our world together and for each other. What does this require? Openness and curiosity, communication and cooperation, humanity and community spirit. From 10 to 18 May 2025, mcbw and its numerous programme partners will be offering an interactive programme in the heart of Munich, providing information and bringing people together in conversation – participation is expressly encouraged!
With around 200 installations and events in public spaces, exhibitions, talks, creative workshops and a varied programme at the festival headquarters, the emphatically participatory programme is aimed at a specialist audience from the fields of design and architecture as well as the general public. The wide range of formats, from scientific to playful interpretations of the annual theme, invites visitors to participate and discuss, discover and get to know each other. The heart of the festival and information point is the mcbw hub at Rindermarkt. In the middle of Munich's old town, mcbw is using the retail space in the Ruffinihaus. From 6 May as an information point and from 10 May with a varied programme aimed at children and adults, inviting all curious minds to create a "vibrant community" through shared experiences. Further public formats can be discovered from 10 to 18 May at Königsplatz, in the Fünf Höfe, on the lawn behind the Alte Pinakothek and at the Viktualienmarkt.
Designblok Cosmos touches down on Munich's Königsplatz – a striking futuristic metal capsule housing ten exceptional glass installations by leading contemporary Czech designers. The immersive audiovisual experience unfolds against a backdrop of cosmic infinity, celebrating glass as a material deeply rooted in Bohemian tradition. Each piece on display represents a distinct design philosophy, merging exquisite craftsmanship with cutting-edge production techniques now defining Czech workshops and studios. Inside, Czech Grand Design laureate Jan Plecháč's architectural vision comes to life through 170 mirrors, while the capsule's exterior gleams with reflective silver foil. Designblok, the Prague International Design Festival, and the Czech Centre Munich welcome media representatives to an exclusive VIP preview and reception on 13 May 2025 at 5 p.m. at Designblok Cosmos, Königsplatz (Luisenstraße 31, 80333 Munich). Registration required by 5 May – contact rsvp@designblok.cz.
