Horizons – Seeking, building and activating homes

Exhibition at the Weissenhof Gallery

"Home has a great future, but not with the model of the past." Wilhelm Schmid. Even before Ernst Bloch described architecture as an attempt to create a human home, architecture and the sense of home were inextricably linked. Home does not exist from the outset, but must be recreated again and again through social and individual efforts. For home is a dynamic resource that gains value when its complexity is understood and used for the tasks of the present. If home is not understood as an exclusive privilege, the past can become an aid in dealing with the present.

Home can serve as cultural orientation, helping us shape coexistence as genuine respect and mutual understanding. Conflict and uncertainty are inherent to the reality of home. Architecture becomes a process of thoughtful reinvention, where spaces, cities, and neighborhoods develop through dynamic transformation—and global realities become sources of cultural enrichment. New horizons emerge.

Featuring works by Medine Altiok / Regina Baierl / Stefanie Bürkle / Studio Malta and Weiny Fitui with Victor S. Brigola and Álvaro García / Wolfgang Rossbauer.
