German Urban Design Prize 2027
Application phase now open
For over 45 years, the German Urban Design Prize—endowed with a total of €25,000—has promoted forward-thinking planning and urban design culture. Awarded by the German Academy for Urban Development and Regional Planning (DASL) and supported by the Wüstenrot Foundation.
The German Urban Design Prize recognizes urban design projects that demonstrate excellence through sustainable and innovative contributions to urban design culture. Selected projects must address the challenges of contemporary urban and open space planning while meeting the demands of modern lifestyles and responsible resource management.
The special prize serves as an idea generator, highlighting particularly urgent fields of action in urban design and city planning. This year's special prize theme is "Spaces of Cohesion – Urban Design That Connects." Applications are accepted until September 30, 2026.
