With great attention to detail
Customized conversion of a penthouse
After the children moved out, the client couple wanted a slightly smaller, new home. The penthouse they chose, in Hohenfelde near the Alster, was built as an extension in 2010. At first glance, the apartment seemed to offer exactly what they were looking for. After detailed consideration by Thomas Dietrich Architektur & Innenarchitektur, the floor plan was further optimized and adapted to the couple's needs.
Well thought-out conversions change the sequence of rooms in the 200 square meter apartment, which now comprises a more public part with a generously glazed area for living, dining and cooking as well as a private part with the two bedrooms, dressing rooms and bathrooms. A hallway connects the two areas, while double doors integrated into the wall cladding also allow the space to be closed off if required. Upon entering the apartment, the spaciousness of the home becomes tangible. The flowing sequence of rooms is supported by the uniform flooring. Numerous custom-made built-in units offer storage space and exposed areas to showcase personal mementos and selected collector's items. The open kitchen is only recognizable by the built-in oven and the extractor hood. The induction hob is cleverly integrated into the kitchen unit under the stone flooring, so that the clean look remains undisturbed. Materials and colors are harmoniously coordinated. Dark wooden surfaces provide a counterpoint to the light, spacious room. The client enters her friendly-looking bedroom through the light ash dressing room. The sliding doors to the dressing room and the main bathroom are integrated into the wall cladding and can be opened completely so that the rooms merge into one another. The color-restrained trowel finish on the walls and floors offers the high-quality and multifaceted natural materials wood and stone a stage for their powerful effect. The natural stones are hand-picked and the grain patterns are deliberately used to reinforce the monolithic effect. The client wanted elm fixtures for his bedroom and personally selected the veneers. In combination with filigree brass details and color accents, a harmonious room for rest and relaxation was created. The dressing room and air conditioning are concealed behind the wall paneling. Great emphasis was placed on detail-oriented craftsmanship throughout the entire design.
