Light and shadow
The interior of an urban villa impresses with its concept and design details
The residential building, which was built in a sought-after residential area of the Rhine metropolis, exudes pure elegance. Kitzig Interior Design, which, in addition to its headquarters in Lippstadt, has also had design studios in Düsseldorf and Bochum for several years, created a tailor-made interior. This creates a homely overall concept through exciting accents and harmoniously coordinated colors.
The living space of the house extends over two floors and more than 520 square meters, opening generously to the outside with a purist window front. The entrance on the first floor is followed by a spacious living area with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass fronts facing the terrace and garden. A floor-to-ceiling block clad in fine walnut slats is not only the location for the gas fireplace with glass on three sides - it also integrates the TV set, as well as several wine fridges and a concealed bar cabinet. At the same time, it acts as a central room divider to the neighboring dining area. Light and shade define the two main zones on the first floor: the open, bright character of the living area is echoed in the design of a predominantly white wall. Purist furniture classics, colorful fabrics and works of art in vibrant colors act as eye-catchers and break up the stringent interior design. In contrast, restrained, dark colors characterize the more introverted areas of the house: the separable kitchen is furnished in matt black, as are the walls and ceiling. It was combined with the warm tone of the herringbone parquet flooring.
The adjoining en suite dining area is given a special accent by a black marble table from Knoll. The different materials and surfaces interact with the lighting to create excitement and a particularly atmospheric ambience. The ceiling lights in particular, which are classically combined with indirect light and spotlights, lend the rooms a sense of coziness and personality. This atmospheric tension continues on the upper floor: the master bathroom with a free-standing bathtub and an elongated, bespoke washbasin with marble elements was kept in white. In contrast, the dressing room leading to the bedroom is in a more subdued color scheme: Warm wood tones and a velour carpet create an intimate atmosphere. This is given a bright accent by the daylight coming in from above. A great deal of craftsmanship has gone into creating a detailed interior that is both invitingly homely and prestigious.
