It started with an unsuccessful search for an elegant vegan leather bag: Florina Thaler couldn't find one that was both sustainably made and classically chic. The communications graduate decided to launch her own label, Consci, in early summer 2021 to turn her vision of an elegant bag crafted from plant-based leather alternatives into reality.
Her first step toward realizing this vision was finding the right material. It needed to be sustainable and elegant, matching animal leather in appearance, quality, and durability. During her research, Florina Thaler discovered a young company in Mexico producing vegan leather from cactus. This leather alternative is made from Nopal, a prickly pear cactus, and is not only 100 percent vegan—its entire lifecycle is designed with sustainability and environmental protection in mind. In her atelier in Frankfurt-Niederrad, the native Swabian designer develops her collection of bags and accessories. The Consci product range includes a toiletry pouch made from cactus leather. It provides ample space for toiletries, cosmetics, or razors and features four interior compartments of varying widths. The collection's wallet offers twelve card slots, two side pockets, and a zippered coin compartment for cards and cash. Like all of the designer's products, it's handcrafted in Portugal. The crossbody bag is available in black, sand, and cognac. It provides room for all your essentials, with exterior and interior zip pockets keeping everything organized.
