A special vision
In the cocoa warehouse in the Speicherstadt, a Pâtisseriewith an elegant industrial look
The "Pâtisserie Johanna" was created in a very special location in the historic Speicherstadt warehouse district in the former cocoa warehouse and with a view of the modern Hafencity. Taking into account the monument protection requirements in all areas, a harmonious conversion and interior concept in the typical warehouse building succeeded in building a bridge to the historical industrial heritage.
The owners, Inka and Ralph Orth, brought together visions of their daughter Johanna for the implementation on the first floor of the Unesco World Heritage Site, which previously housed a market hall with various food stations. The young master confectioner had died in the floods in the Ahr valley. The interior of the pâtisserie was to be given a very special look and the products were to be presented like precious jewels in display cases, according to the guiding idea. The colour concept is dominated by black and gold, including the logo, a stylized, gold-coloured butterfly on a black background. Visitors are greeted at the entrance by a light installation in the form of a gold-colored swarm of butterflies. This motif appears inside in various materials, as an LED wall, illuminated logo, on glasses and various other materials. The fine treats are presented in showcases like in a jewelry store, discreetly but effectively illuminated at certain points. In order to achieve the greatest possible transparency, glass partitions and folding glass units with solid wood frames were produced. Benches along the walls are covered in black leather, powder-coated steel shelves in the bar area are finished in gold. Matt black work surfaces made from HiMacs, a vinyl floor with a Versailles wood look, chairs withchairs with gold/bronze-colored seat cushionsand tables with a black surface create a sophisticated industrial look.
