Three in One

New showroom unites brand, people, and materials

Three in One

How do you design a space that functions simultaneously as a stage, workshop, and gathering place? This question shaped the vision for a flooring manufacturer's new showroom. What emerged is more than a product display – it's an experiential landscape where ideas flow, dialogue happens, and brand identity comes alive. The project came to mondello:büroeinrichtung through a natural collaboration: both the flooring manufacturer and the interior designer are based in Frankfurt's iconic UFO building. After years of working together, they brought in studio bergn to develop the overall design concept. Their shared mission: to create a space where the full range of flooring options is architecturally expressed, while seamlessly serving as both a working environment and event venue.

The central challenge lay in weaving these three functions into one coherent experience. The building's distinctive concrete structure demanded a thoughtful approach to materials and proportions. Rather than competing design elements, they crafted a precise interplay of plane, color, and texture. Every decision – from spatial planning to furnishing to zoning – worked in concert, creating a fluid continuum that feels both open and purposefully organized. The design concept centers on a "spatial landscape of infinite possibility" where the lines between work, presentation, and connection dissolve naturally, fostering creativity and exchange. Different flooring systems subtly articulate the zones while allowing the product story to unfold organically. Warm wood surfaces, matte finishes, and textured textiles establish an inviting, focused atmosphere. Studio bergn thoughtfully adapted the building's existing lighting infrastructure, adding only carefully selected decorative fixtures. This lighting strategy emphasizes materiality and shifts the mood to match the space's function – whether serving as office, exhibition, or event venue. Functionally, clarity of movement and adaptability guide the design; aesthetically, exposed concrete, structure, and material engage in constant dialogue. Each zone carries its own narrative, yet collectively they form a cohesive spatial composition radiating openness, identity, and creative vitality. This showroom exemplifies what brand architecture can truly achieve: an inspiring environment where brand, people, and materials exist in perfect balance – a place where authentic connection and meaningful ideas can flourish.
