The Artisan Affair

New trade fair in the Mozart Halls of the Logenhaus

On Saturday, 8th and Sunday, 9th November, the new Artisan Affair trade fair will be held in the impressive Mozart Halls of the Logenhaus in Hamburg under the title "Hand Werk Kunst" (Handicraft Art). The focus of this carefully curated sales fair is on outstanding craftsmanship and applied art in a dignified yet relaxed and personal atmosphere. The format deliberately differs from classic museum exhibitions. The venue is a beautiful, historic hall, but the presentation remains simple: the tables are plain, but the objects are valuable. This puts the work centre stage – in high-quality premises, but in a down-to-earth, market-like manner.

The works will be presented in personal exchanges with visitors. In the evening, there will be a cheerful "come together" dance evening for exhibitors and invited guests in the beautiful foyer. This new exhibition event is set to establish itself as a permanent fixture in the high-end segment. "There is nothing more exciting for the public than gaining insights into the world of artisans. And who better to tell this story than ourselves?" says initiator Frank Pressentin, founder of Elbwood. The idea for the fair came to fruition at the international pen shows where Pressentin regularly exhibits as a pen maker: this is where people meet, spread out their writing instruments and strike up conversations – interested, open and relaxed.

The fair doesn't aim to compete with 140 years of museum programming—it's something altogether different. Pressentin created this event as a vibrant, accessible forum for the entire artisan community, whether exhibiting or attending. Works travel directly from workshops to tabletops. Beyond the exhibition itself, visitors encounter compelling speakers: the artisans themselves. Taking the stage, they share their stories—opening windows into their studios, revealing the rhythms of their creative practice, and articulating what fuels their passion. The fair shows not just what gets made, but why it matters.
