Studio 47 unveils its new look following refurbishment
Regional TV station celebrates its 20th anniversary
The regional television broadcaster Studio 47 has completed a comprehensive modernization of its Duisburg facility following approximately six months of construction. At the heart of the project lies a completely redesigned spatial concept that seamlessly integrates functionality, sophisticated design, and state-of-the-art production capabilities. Working in close partnership with landlord Duisburg Kontor, the renovation was executed from the ground up. All ceilings and walls were removed, the entire space was restructured, and both technical and design elements were brought up to current standards. The result is an open, loft-like spatial experience featuring an industrial aesthetic that embodies the workflow of a modern media company. René Brouns of schwarzgold architekten led the architectural design, while Danny Bergmann and his team at Bergmann Innenausbau managed the implementation. Through careful coordination, a cohesive spatial and lighting concept was developed that optimally supports both the editorial operations and the specific demands of a television studio.
A key feature is the newly designed studio with integrated glass walls, which create a sense of openness whilst offering flexible production options. This is complemented by high-quality new flooring, a clearly structured lighting design, and a modern, minimalist palette of materials and colours. The other areas have also been completely redesigned: an open foyer, a spacious lounge, a modern meeting room and a newly fitted green room provide space for discussion, preparation and interaction. Added to this are fully refurbished sanitary facilities that underline the high design standards of the overall project. “With this refurbishment, we have deliberately created space for the future,” says Editor-in-Chief Sascha Devigne. “The new spaces are not only more modern and functional, but also support our way of working as an innovative, regional media provider.”
The completion of construction work coincides with a significant milestone: Studio 47 is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Since launching on March 20, 2006, the station has operated as the first and, to date, only private regional television broadcaster in North Rhine-Westphalia. Over the past two decades, STUDIO 47 has established itself as a cornerstone of the regional media landscape. Through news, documentaries, and magazine programming covering Duisburg and the surrounding region, the broadcaster has become an integral part of daily life for local audiences—while simultaneously championing innovation and advancement in local journalism. With the completion of this construction project, STUDIO 47 is now fully equipped both technologically and spatially, signaling a clear commitment to the future of local television in Duisburg and the region.
CUBE congratulates its partner and wishes Studio 47 continued success.
