Neue Messe Süd Wins Düsseldorf Architecture Award

Award Ceremony at Düsseldorf City Museum

Neue Messe Süd by slapa oberholz pszczulny | sop architekten has earned the prestigious Düsseldorf Architecture Award, presented every three years by the BDA Düsseldorf to outstanding buildings of exceptional quality. At the ceremony held at Düsseldorf City Museum, Jurek M. Slapa, managing partner at sop architekten, and Jörg Bredenbröcker, project director and associate at sop architekten, received the award alongside Clemens Hauser, Executive Director Technical Operations at Messe Düsseldorf.

The Neue Messe Süd presents Messe Düsseldorf with an inviting, forward-facing identity. Its approximately 7,800 m² translucent canopy creates a distinctive landmark visible even from the Rhine, unifying all key functions—from the exhibition forecourt and transparent south entrance to the column-free multifunctional exhibition hall—under a single, elegant structure. Through this project, sop architekten thoughtfully integrates the neighbouring congress centre's existing architecture while establishing a distinctive new spatial identity within the surrounding mature landscape.

The jury commended the project, noting: "The thoughtful selection of materials and meticulous detailing elevate this building to outstanding architectural quality, setting a benchmark for similar building typologies."
