Innovation Award "Lehmbau BW 2025"

Applications accepted until 31 May

The Ministry of Regional Development and Housing is launching the "Lehmbau BW" Innovation Award for the second time, shining a spotlight on exemplary clay construction projects across the state. New this year is an emerging talent category. The search continues for outstanding buildings, innovative building concepts, and forward-thinking projects that champion clay as a sustainable building material—all realized in Baden-Württemberg between January 1, 2020 and February 28, 2025. The competition welcomes private and public building owners, initiative representatives, planning authorities, architects, engineers, construction firms, building trades professionals, and design practitioners who played a significant role in eligible construction projects.

For the first time this year, the ministry is also introducing an emerging talent award in the "Lehmbau BW" category. The award seeks outstanding theses from architecture, civil engineering, and related degree program graduates—work completed between January 1, 2020 and February 28, 2025 at a Baden-Württemberg university that earned the student their degree. These theses must explore clay as a sustainable building material in meaningful depth. Universities throughout Baden-Württemberg are encouraged to participate. Submissions should be made jointly by supervising professors or research staff and the respective students.
