The Brost Foundation is supporting the Holo-Voices project at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein. Using AI and hologram technology, the testimonies of Holocaust survivors are preserved for future generations and made available for educational purposes. To mark the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, Minister of Culture and Science Ina Brandes opened the Holo-Voices exhibition in Essen.

The Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia is realizing Holo-Voices – Europe's only project of its kind – in partnership with TU Dortmund. With €190,000 in funding, the Brost Foundation is advancing a thoughtful approach to remembrance. The initiative makes Holocaust survivors' experiences permanently accessible and, crucially, invites young people to ask questions and engage directly with eyewitnesses – a vital endeavor at a time when anti-Semitic and anti-democratic views are increasing.

"Holo-Voices isn't a memorial you pass by. It's an invitation to listen and question – in an age bent on forgetting. When witnesses are gone, their stories must not fade with them. History resurfaces here – raw, challenging, deeply personal. Memory alone doesn't shield us from repeating the past. It demands responsibility. And education is what transforms that responsibility into conviction," says Professor Bodo Hombach.
