EmotionAir
Group exhibition in the newly revitalized Glassmakers' Quarter
Through August 11, the Balloon Museum presents "EmotionAir," a group exhibition of work by 20 internationally acclaimed artists, spanning 17,000 m² in Düsseldorf's newly revitalized Glassmakers' Quarter at Heyestraße 178. Following sold-out presentations in Rome, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Naples, London, and Atlanta, the Balloon Museum has already engaged more than 4.3 million visitors worldwide. The exhibition investigates the profound connection between art and human emotion through the compelling medium of inflatable installations—"EmotionAir: Art you can feel."
Visitors embark on a distinctive multisensory experience, navigating monumental installations that command the gallery space alongside intimate, smaller-scale works. Artists from across the globe collaborate to dissolve the traditional boundary between artwork and viewer—a defining characteristic that sets the Balloon Museum apart. Here, audiences transcend passive observation; they touch, interact, and participate in a fully immersive journey that blends the sensory with the digital. Beyond contemporary practice, "EmotionAir" traces the lineage of inflatable objects from the 18th-century innovation of the hot air balloon by the Montgolfier brothers through iconic contemporary works like Jeff Koons' celebrated Balloon Dog series. The Balloon Museum earned the prestigious BEA – Best Event Award for Best Proprietary Format in both 2022 and 2023.
