With BallaBalla, Alain Bieber—former artistic director of the NRW Forum Düsseldorf—launches a globally rare cultural hybrid on November 27, 2025, in the newly opened Gallery Mall Düwell: a space where art, design, and table tennis converge. In Düsseldorf, the world's table tennis capital and home of legend Timo Boll, BallaBalla unites an art exhibition, design concept store, and interactive table tennis experience into a vibrant cultural playground for all ages. Fun is back! Curated by Bieber, the inaugural exhibition "Seriously Brilliant Stuff" showcases works, limited editions, and design pieces from over 20 artists, designers, and collaborators Bieber has worked with throughout his decade at the NRW Forum Düsseldorf—from electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk and digital artist Tim Berresheim to photographic artist Erik Kessels, experimental jeweler Alessa Joosten, designers Sanja Zündorf and Maren Düsel, street artists Osheen Siva and Hoker One, Leipzig painter Georg Weißbach, and key Düsseldorf-based figures including Rimma Arslanov, Johannes Bendzulla
and Roman Klonek.

Curated by Alain Bieber, the debut exhibition "Really Bold Stuff" showcases works, editions, and design objects from over 20 artists, designers, and collaborators he's worked with over the past decade at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf – from electronic pioneers Kraftwerk and digital artist Tim Berresheim to photographer Erik Kessels, experimental jewellery designer Alessa Joosten, designers Sanja Zündorf and Maren Düsel, street artists Osheen Siva and Hoker One, Leipzig painter Georg Weißbach, and prominent Düsseldorf creatives including Rimma Arslanov, Johannes Bendzulla, and Roman Klonek.

The participating artists share a bold, playful, and distinctly original approach to art and design: unapologetic, irreverent, boundary-crossing, and steeped in pop culture. Their work challenges convention, remixes cultural history, and demonstrates how vital art becomes when it pairs edge with humour.
