Fix it! – Reimagining Buildings, Not Tearing Them Down
Exhibition Opening & Panel Discussion
In partnership with Architects4Future, HouseEurope!, and the BDA, the German Architecture Centre (DAZ) is launching a pop-up exhibition titled "Fix it! – Reimagining Buildings, Not Tearing Them Down," presented alongside the ongoing exhibition "The Demolition Question & Power to Renovation." The exhibition showcases transformative renovation and retrofitting projects from across Germany—all part of the BDA's renovation atlas—demonstrating the powerful potential of building reuse and adaptive renovation. Complementing the exhibition are sustainable building materials from renewable sources, hands-on renovation workshops, and firsthand insights from Architects4Future Berlin.
The exhibition amplifies the message of HouseEurope!, a European citizens' initiative championing a more sustainable and socially responsible building culture by prioritizing renovation and modernization over demolition and new construction. Support this EU-backed initiative—vote at the DAZ or online. The opening event features a panel discussion at 6 p.m.: "How Do We Want to Build Tomorrow?"
Programme:
6 p.m. – Panel Discussion featuring Atelier Loidl Landscape Architects, Supertype Group, Studio Tegel – Circular Carpentry, Natural Building Lab (TU Berlin), and Triodos Bank, moderated by Julia Shapiro (HouseEurope!)
7 p.m. – Exhibition Opening with Susanne Wartzeck (President, BDA), Laura Holzberg (Artistic Director, DAZ), and Architects4Future Berlin
Networking over refreshments
