Alexandra Viefhaus first studied business administration before joining her family's metal construction company. In 2017, she founded her own label Made of Steel in Oberhausen. With her designs, Viefhaus shows what can be created from metal. The range includes fire columns, tea lights and murals. In many cases with a reference to the Ruhr region, such as the skylines of various Ruhr cities. All products are made of steel in the family business, with stainless steel or stainless steel finishes used for the surfaces. In addition to its own collections, Viefhaus also offers customized designs on request: Names, dates and motifs can be individually lasered into all products.

The label's fire columns are particularly popular. The Oberhausen version shows the Oberhausen gasometer next to a miner, a Doppelbock, mallets and iron. The lettering Glück Auf! rounds off the four-sided laser-cut column. The fire pillar measures 35 x 35 x 80 cm and is suitable for outdoor use. Due to the weather, the steel version will develop a beautiful rust patina over time. Made of Steel now offers the option of converting the fire columns into a plate grill if required. The Ruhrpottlichter are among the first products designed by Alexandra Viefhaus. They are made of steel and are lit with a tea light. They are available in two sizes and with various lettering and symbols typical of the Ruhr region. All of the label's products are available in the online store and in the store at Bergstraße 5 in Oberhausen.
