Timeless and functional
Andrea Körmer relies on a clear design language for her designs
Andrea Körmer studied design at Aachen University of Applied Sciences and at the Peter Behrens School of Arts at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. She completed her studies with a Master of Arts in 2017 and has been working as a product designer ever since. All furniture and products created in her studio in Bilk are timelessly simple, dynamic and functional. A clear design language is the basis of her designs, everything is reduced to the essentials. Interaction with her customers is particularly important to Körmer - together with them, she seeks and finds solutions that make everyday life that little bit easier. Her products include the "Gemeinsam Essen" tableware series, for example: As part of her master's thesis, Körmer designed bowls, mugs and serving plates with practical handles. The tableware follows the idea of sharing food and eating a meal together in a special way. The Inviting Bowls are shaped so that they can tilt to two sides to provide easy access to olives and similar snacks from different sitting positions, making it easier to share food. The Disc Plate has a rotating handle that can be gripped flexibly from all sides. The cup breaks are connected to each other and can be separated exactly once. This creates a lasting memory of a shared meal. The "Brot(s) Brüder" street food pop-up stand brings the world-famous and original German Stulle, Knifte or Schnitte back into the present as a street food idea: the module consists of individual strips and shelves made of beech wood, it is easy to assemble and can be transported flexibly from one location to the next.
