Overnight stay and more
New timelessly designed hotel at Potsdamer Platz offers new experiences time and time again
Since May of this year, Berlin has been enriched by another aletto hotel. Located not far from Potsdamer Platz, the new hotel combines accommodation in timelessly furnished rooms, food with Italian flair and ever-changing experiences in a 360-degree hybrid concept. This is made possible by the development of a pop-up station, which provides a flexible exhibition space for companies, brands and creatives and offers guests exciting insights into new products or innovations. "For the unique lobby concept, the entrance area and the exhibition spaces were designed to allow multifunctional use and thus flexible adaptation to changing requirements," explains Bernd Andersen, Regional Sales Manager North at Vitra - one of the brands that create the modern design reminiscent of the Bauhaus style that runs through the entire building, offering high functionality and a great deal of flexibility at the same time.
Another example of this is a multi-lane rail and shelving system that can be found throughout the public area. Thanks to it, individual areas can be subdivided and designed as required. The programmed building automation is particularly practical. It allows the entire building to be conveniently controlled via PC, cell phone and tablet, while a user interface bundles the roller shutters, sliding doors, lights, error messages and music in the event rooms. Whether room temperature, underfloor heating, ventilation or lighting - all rooms can be controlled from reception at any time.
In terms of materials, only exposed concrete was used for the load-bearing components in the interior, with terrazzo flooring in the public areas. Wood and brass were used for the surfaces in the public areas and rooms, such as the bar counter. These are all high-quality and durable materials which, together with the consistently clear forms, the selected furniture and the well thought-out lighting concept, ensure a timeless aesthetic.
The most striking feature from the outside is the full glazing on the first floor, which provides plenty of natural light. This is followed by a brick façade with yellow-colored brick from Petersen Tegl, before the hotel is successfully finished off with a glass-enclosed roof terrace and a champagne-colored metal-covered pitched roof.
