Aging Together – Senior Living

Exhibition Closing and Panel Discussion

How can architecture strengthen community? What housing models make sense for aging populations? At the closing event and panel discussion for "Aging Together – Architectural Approaches for the Elderly," leading voices explored these questions:
Jan Garde, founder of The Embassies, presented his vision for Hamburg's new senior living community and Ambassador Club—a global premium membership model offering private serviced apartments. The Embassies prioritizes social connection and cultural life, granting members exclusive access to curated programming, co-working spaces, intergenerational mentoring, community lounges, and dedicated longevity and wellness areas. Joined by panelists Lievens Halewijn (NU architectuuratelier), Hille Krause (kbnk Architekten), and Andrea Soyka (steg Hamburg), the discussion examined how thoughtful design can reshape aging.

The exhibition "Aging Together – Architectural Approaches for the Elderly" presented design solutions that foster community living and respond to growing demand for spaces supporting social connection, mutual aid, and shared responsibility. It challenged conventional thinking about aging—exploring how architecture enables people to age with dignity, independence, and belonging. The exhibition positioned community-centered housing as a vital reimagining of traditional elderly care.
