"Technology that inspires!"
Hamburg timber construction forum on January 15
"Technology that inspires!" is the theme of the Hamburg Timber Construction Forum on Wednesday, January 15, at the Freie Akademie der Künste Hamburg. Sound technical expertise is essential for innovative and successful timber construction. The developments that have led us to high-rise timber construction in recent years and will continue to drive us towards straw and clay in the future, for example, require an open discussion of the current state of science, technology and pilot projects.
Dry technology, but hot iron: Multi-storey timber structures have a different vibration behavior than conventional buildings. When building near major roads and railroad lines, there is a lot to consider. Henning Klattenhoff from Assmann Beraten + Planen presents the results of a research project.
It is not uncommon for a look forward to be a look back: for some years now, clay and straw have been back in demand as natural building materials alongside wood. The architect and carpenter Dirk Scharmer from Deltagrün Architektur is a specialist in the use of these building materials and presents two new four-storey buildings in Lüneburg using a timber-straw and clay construction.
